Hello! My name is Maggie Bean, I was born in Atlanta, Georgia and found my love for glassblowing when I was a senior in high school. I received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in December 2012 from Valdosta State University. Soon after graduation I moved to Wimberley, Texas where I joined a production team in hand blown lighting and interior design at Wimberley Glassworks. I received additional education from Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle, Washington to study under Matthew Urban. Afterwards, I traveled to New York and Italy for historical research, inspiration, and discovered different techniques at world renowned centers for art glass. I had the honor to attend the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina as a recipient of the Richard Ritter Scholarship. Additionally, I completed a 6 month work-study at STARworks NC in 2017.
It has always been a passion of mine for glass making but my other passion is exploring and appreciating the outdoors. Since 2017 I have lived and operated my own glassblowing business just outside of Yosemite National Park. Now I am able to spread the joy of glass by teaching entry level classes at Rush Creek Lodge, Yosemite and produce one of a kind art pieces for clients.
I will continue to pursue my passion for glass and hope to share the beauty of glass with others through artwork and teaching.
